Detective Robert Rookhuyzen, Washington County Sheriff Office
Robert L. Rookhuyzen is a detective with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, currently assigned to the Violent Crimes Unit. He is also a member of the Washington County Major Crimes Team. Detective Rookhuyzen is a graduate of Brigham Young University. He started his law enforcement career in 2001 with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and was assigned to patrol. He served as a Field Training Officer and a member of the Washington County Crisis Negotiations Unit. He was promoted to Corporal in 2007 and Detective in 2010. He was assigned to the Child Abuse Investigations Unit from 2010-2015. He is a 2017 winner of the Federal Bureau of Investigations Director’s Award for Distinguished Service to Victims of Violent Crime. Detective Rookhuyzen enjoys showing others how easy it is to prepare search warrant affidavits and obtain search warrants in Oregon.
This class is designed for every patrol officer/deputy, as well as new detectives. It is also a great refresher for people who already have some experience writing search warrants. After a review of search warrant concepts and the process of obtaining a search, class members will write two search warrants (including one for Facebook) based on realistic practical scenarios. The instructor will provide feedback on each affidavit and search warrant written.
